WORLD WAR I 900 ENGLISH SILVER TRENCH WATCH ENAMEL 24 HOUR DIAL ORIGINAL PIGSKINnone
For auction is an anonymous (unsigned) high grade WW1 era (could also be 1920’s) trench watch with excellent undamaged porcelain dial with radium numerals and cathedral hands mounted on original pigskin leather strap. Solid silver case (assuming English .900 but not sure what it is) is in excellent shape as is the very beautiful movement showing three finger bridges. Dial is really lovely, the bright like-the-day-it-was-new porcelain dial makes the watch feel bigger than it actually is. You can 100% imagine an officer in a trench wearing this watch and using it for military purposes. The inner red 24 hours is especially nice. Really remarkable that 100 or so laters this watch can be used daily without issue (just don’t drop it, these early watches didn’t have the shock protection systems of later watches….they really were more like pocket watches on the wrist [which many of them actually were, but this was always designed to be a watch which is super cool])
