TISSOT SEASTAR PR 516 BLUE DIAL 36MM Cal 784-2 TRITIUM PATINA AUTOMATIC STEELTissot
For auction is a 1970s Tissot Seastar PR 516 blue dial 36mm stainless steel caliber 784-2. In the hierarchy of undervalued and under-appreciated watches Tissot certainly takes up a lot of the top spots. That is unfair; Tissot made great quality pieces and tried a lot of different designs. Many of those designs have been looked upon with fresh eyes; for me I've always loved 60's and 70's funky unconventionally shaped watches and the wider market is beginning to slowly come to the same understanding. Frankly looking at what has been released this year at Basel (and over the past decade, really) and these pieces become that much more exciting. No mass market brands are really doing 'different' adventurous or new designs. Just rehashes of old famous pieces. It makes watches like this Seastar all the more appealing. A compact diver that really wears well it has a chameleon like blue dial; in low light it looks an inky black but in direct sunlight it is a vivid almost turquoise blue. A really great piece.
