OMEGA SEAMASTER 120 176.004 BIG BLUE Cal 1040 44MM TROPICAL AUTO CHRONO DIVEROmega
Big Blue Mesh
For auction is a 1970s Omega Seamaster 120 Big Blue 176.004 44mm caliber 1040 on mesh Omega bracelet with incredible tropical dial. These watches were prone to big time dial color change/tropicalization; not all tropical dials are created equal...sometimes the effect isn't a good look, but when it is it really is a little individual work of art. Here the dial has taken on almost purple hues that really look incredible. With a deeply colored tritium patina on the markers and hands it all blends perfectly with the oh-so-blue bakelite (acrylic) diver bezel. Arguably one of the greatest bakelite bezels of all time no watch every quite captured this particular color of blue. Wearing big, bigger even than its 44mm size suggests, it is such a fun piece. Essentially a collectible from the time it was produced it is a piece that has always been appreciated and will always continue to be as one the great chrono divers ever.
