MOVADO CHRONOMETER CALIBER 75 CALATRAVA 1930s STAINLESS STEEL PATINA SECTOR DIALMovado
Caliber 75 'Calatrava'
For auction is an incredible 1930'ds Movado (Factories) caliber 75 Chronometer 32mm all steel case with a sector dial: a watch comparable in every way to a ref. 96 but at a mere fraction of the price. It takes a lot of years of immersing oneself into all the nooks and cranny's of watchdom and specifically vintage watchdom to really fully appreciate the greatness of Movado Factories 1920's-1950's watches. They are remarkably undervalued. How does that statement make sense? Well as compared to the aforementioned cal. 96 in steel that is a roughly 10+k watch. Yes that watch is indeed nicer and more rare, but the difference is more fractional than anything else. Even if this watch is 50% as nice, which it isn't its probably 80% as nice, it isn't priced at 50% as much. Further this watch has a millimeter problem. It is NOT too small, I can wear this watch and it looks great (I have a 6.25" wrist), but that is in part due to the large dial diameter, lug width and dimensions: it is a deceptively big 32mm. The future is bright for Movado Factories pieces; the ones I have are among my most cherished pieces and that says a lot: I have a lifetime of watch knowledge and I know how good they are.
