Enicar Seapearl Ultrasonic Sherpa Dive 40mm AR167 600 Feet 1960s Vintage Diver
Enicar

For auction is a early 1960's Enicar Sherpa Dive 40mm automatic caliber AR167 stainless steel second generation super-compressor EPSA case with red ring diving bezel. These are great watches and are generally important to dive watch (and watch) history. Outside of the Sub in 1953 this watch was introduced at the 1958 Brussels Exposition (basically the precursor to Basel) and it was a revolution in Divers watches. It presupposed all the exceptional dive watches that EPSA (Erwin Picquerrez SA) would make over the next 15 years. Enicar always had unique cases from EPSA whereas other cases would be shared by many different brands. The Sherpa Dive is especially nice and distinctive in that it has the desirable external rotating bezel; most Super-Compressor watches to come next had the internal rotating. This example is nice and all original and quite clean, just serviced and working well. It is a watch probably 500 times more rare than a Sub and a fraction of the price. Very much an 'if you know you know' kind of watch.
