EBERHARD Cal. 16' 1930's 40MM STEPPED CASE ENAMEL DIAL MANUAL WINDING TELEMETEREberhard
For auction is an Eberhard 16' stepped case 1930's steel back very unique case 40MM with incredible fired enamel dial. Classically stunning and with an amazing enamel dial that overall has survived really well (some hairlines that are not noticeable when worn but no major chips or cracks). The snail scale inner is such a good look and so 'of a time' period. The Caliber 16' has great distance between the pushers which make a nice balanced looking dial. Incredible pomme blued steel hands and older style 30 minutes counter arrow hand and running subsidiary second. The chrome upper is in very nice shape where it can almost pass for steel; seems to be a high grade metal formulation (this is a time period where steel was very pricey and that metal formulations were still being worked out). A great watch that still wears great (I've worn it about a dozen times, works and runs well) it is incredible that it can be worn with no cares; it is roughly 80 years old. Something special; pieces like this underscore the awesomeness of vintage watches.
Diameter: 40 mm w/out crown, 42 mm w/crown, 46 mm lug to lug
Lug Width: 20 mm at the lugs tapering to 20 mm (will take a 20 mm strap)
Height: 13 mm
Power-reserve: 38 hours
Water Resistance: N/A
Gram Weight: 55 grams
Movement: Eberhard unsigned 16' manual winding
Strap/Bracelet: Nato fabric
Case: CHROME upper and steel back, stepped milled bezel, XL oval pusher at 1 o'clock controls stop/start/reset (it is a monopusher / monopoussoir) the 4 o'clock pusher was at one time a sliding lock for the chronograph mechanism but at some point in the past a watchmaker fused it into place (ostensibly it was sliding around); so it is a lock that is set to always open; case has fixed bars, condition overall is quite nice as photos show
Dial: ENAMEL with telemeter outer in red and snail tachymeter inner, pomme blued breguet hands, some hairlines as viewable in photos but overall one of the better enamel dials around
Condition: 80% dial has some hairlines but shows really well, case is also very good
Box/Papers: Watch only
