Movado Polyplan Ref 4009 18k Yellow Gold 1912 Angled Movement Blue Enamel DialMovado
For auction is a 1915 Movado Polyplan ref. 4009 18k yellow gold silver enamel dial angled movement 22mm x 55mm oversized manual winding. This very watch auctioned at Christie's in 2008 for $27153! While that might seem an eye popping figure it really is not: these watches are of huge historical importance as well as being still wearable shockingly modern feeling pieces. The reference started in 1912 and was produced through the 1920's; they are among the earliest dedicated wristwatches and have always been vaunted among collectors. To say that the opportunity to buy a reference 4009 is rare is a bit of an understatement: years go by without this reference coming to market. There really isn't a feeling quite like being able to wear a 107 year old watch that looks and feels as good as a modern watch; its like having an original exceptional museum quality painting hanging on a wall in your house.
